In a Utopian world, all the animals on the planet would live free but of course this is not the world we live in.
Like most photographers, I prefer to photograph them in their natural environment and when I get the opportunity, that is what I do. The fact is though that zoos and safari parks are here to stay and I for one appreciate the chance to see and photograph animals and birds that most of us wouldn't get the chance to see in the wild.
A lot of zoos are also doing a good job in keeping endangered species alive and have responsible breeding programs in place so as long as the animals in their care are well looked after, then I definitely think there is a place for them.
